The Schafer Affect is meant to provide information, insight, and inspiration for individuals who seek to grow in some aspect of their lives. Each person has a unique journey and my goal is to highlight paths that you may not have considered and to encourage you as you explore the possibilities.
I am a Christain who is thankful to God for all of the blessings in my life. I believe Jesus is the son of God and died on the cross for the sins of all. I am blessed beyond my deserving and I praise God for all that I have in this life. God has carried me through the tough times in my life and provided me with more than I could have ever imagined.
In July 2017, at the age of 48, I began my mixed martial arts journey with a focus on training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) then eventually adding Western Boxing and Kick Boxing.
I am an active BJJ competitor with a Gold Medals from the 2019 World Master IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship as a Master 4 Super Heavyweight Blue Belt and the 2021 World No-Gi IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship as a Master 5 Super Heavyweight Purple Belt.
I am now a BJJ Brown Belt and I continue my pursuit of someday becoming a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt.
In 1992, I began my 31 year career in the technology field as a software support and conversion analyst for a banking software company. Since that time, I have learned the importance of hard work, persistence, investing in oneself, and being a strong leader.
I've been fortunate to experience great success in my professional career. I am not a multi-millionaire but I have lived the experience of growing up very poor to becoming a technology executive for several publicly traded companies.
Success comes from your dedication and determination.
I am blessed to be married to a wonderful wife for 32 years, to have 4 amazing children, an awesome daughter-in-law, a new grandson, and to be surrounded by other great family members and friends. My successes in life are a testament to the people I am surrounded by who have helped me to grow, to become stronger, and to love.
